Alta Employees Walk To End Breast Cancer

6 Alta Equipment Company employees will be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day starting on August 4th

In spirit of Alta Equipment Company’s One Team guiding principle, Alta Equipment is proud to support The Equipped Chicks
(AKA Team Alta) this weekend as they take on the Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day
walk, a 60 mile walk to end breast cancer. This team is comprised of 6 Alta
employees: Vicky Giglio (Team Captain), Kim Bush, Kristy Rasmussen, Millie
Romeo, Virginia Ellis, and One-Day walker Paul Patalas. The journey begins on
Friday August 4th at
Walled Lake Western High School located in Walled Lake, Michigan and they will travel through Novi, Farmington, Plymouth, and Livonia, ending at Ford Motor
Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI with a closing ceremony on Sunday August 6th.

“To date,
Komen has funded more than $889 million in research and provided $1.95 billion
in funding to breast cancer screening, education, treatment and support
programs serving millions of people in more than 30 countries worldwide. We
wish our team the best of luck for their 60 mile, 3 day walk for this important
cause.” – Ryan Greenawalt, President of Alta.

With
the help of friends, family, and fellow Alta employees the team has raised
$12,590 out of their $12,000 goal. The Equipped Chicks have landed a
spot in the Top 25 fundraising teams in Michigan! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day organizer expect close to 400 walkers this year.

“The support of our Alta
Family has been overwhelming. We are so fortunate to work for a company that
not only supported this idea but that came together to help us reach our goal.
Every single branch contributed and we cannot thank each and every one of them
enough. We hope they will all so us one more favor and come cheer us on through the walk, but especially Sunday morning as we pass our Livonia branch.” – Vicky Giglio, Team Captain.

Alta has supported
The Equipped Chicks by hosting many fundraisers including a bake sale, bowling
and jeans days, inter-branch Penny Wars and through individual donations.
Many employees have also shared the names of their friends and family members
who have been diagnosed with breast cancer for the team to recognize on a shirt
the final day of the walk.
